as we loop towards Lumpy Ridge and Twin Owls, a local mountain range famous for
rock climbing and viewing birds of prey, or raptors. Twin Owls famous raptors
include Gos hawk, Peregrine falcon, Turkey vulture, Red-tailed hawk, Prairie
falcon and Cooper's hawk. |

| Your destination is this rocky outcropping half way up Lumpy
Ridge. From here you have a magnificent view of the Estes Valleyand a fantastic
panorama of the mountains including Twin Sisters, Mount Meeker, Longs Peak and
the Front Range of the Rockies. |

| Gem Lake is located between the twin granite domes of
Cathedral Ridge. This area was not glaciated during the last ice age resulting
in many granite monoliths of unusual beauty. |

| There is a story that this rock what is left of
Paul Bunion boot. If it is I would like to know how he wore a whole all the way
through it, or did he shoot himself in the foot? |
On your way back down, you look north and there are
mountains as far as the eye can see.. |
